21-Jan-2009   Hero Lab and d20Pro Now Offer Seamless Integration

For Immediate Release

Lone Wolf Development and MindGene, LLC are proud to announce compatibility between the award-winning character creator Hero Lab and cutting-edge virtual tabletop d20Pro.

With Hero Lab 3.0 and d20Pro 1.14, you can create a d20 System character within Hero Lab and then import it into d20Pro with only a few clicks of the mouse. Characters created and validated in Hero Lab are seamlessly transferred to any campaign augmented by d20Pro's virtual tabletop (VTT). "Building upon our alliances with numerous publishers, this partnership with MindGene represents the first step towards creating a collaborative software ecosystem for the RPG community," says Rob Bowes, President of Lone Wolf Development.

This new integration allows you all the power and flexibility of Hero Lab's character management engine, coupled with the extensive capabilities of d20Pro's virtual tabletop, to run your regular game session. You can also take advantage of the hundreds of stock heroes and animals already included within Hero Lab, quickly importing them into your d20Pro game. Once imported, you can mix and match these creatures with those already in d20Pro. "This partnership emphasizes the core competencies of both products and establishes a new high water mark for what software can offer those who enjoy d20 based gaming," adds MindGene President, Mat Morton.

Hero Lab, winner of a 2008 ENnie award for "Best Aid or Accessory", is an easy to use character management program for Windows. Supported game systems include the d20 System, Mutants & Masterminds, World of Darkness, and Savage Worlds. Download the free demo from http://www.wolflair.com/hero_lab/.

d20Pro is a VTT for d20 System games that runs as a Java application on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Last year's exploits include groundbreaking player experiences at Origins, GenCon, and Dragon*Con featuring d20Pro enabled sessions of Paizo's Pathfinder Society, The Cheese Grinder, original series Kobolds' Revenge, and many other games. 22-Dec-2008   Hero Lab 3.0 & Authoring Kit released

Hero Lab 3.0 is now available! This release, a free update for all users, has one major update - the long-awaited Authoring Kit.

(Note: Although all users will be able to view the new 'sample game system' and any game systems created with the Authoring Kit, Hero Lab will operate in demo mode with those games unless you purchase the "Authoring Kit / Savage Worlds" data package.)

PLEASE NOTE! The Authoring Kit, and the Savage Worlds data files, are NOT YET COMPLETE. The documentation for the Authoring Kit still needs to be updated, and the Savage Worlds data files still need a few days work. However, after consultation with our beta testers, we decided that it was better to release this incomplete version, then update it later - that gives any users of the Authoring Kit an extra few weeks during the holidays to start learning it.

The d20, Mutants & Masterminds and World of Darkness game systems have not had any major updates yet, due to the fallout from the hack we discovered last week. These will be updated in the coming weeks.

As always, you can download Hero Lab 3.0 through the updates mechanism, or from our website at http://www.wolflair.com/ .

If you're interested in using the Authoring Kit to work on new games, you can find searchable work-in-progress documentation here: http://hlkitwiki.wolflair.com/

A new forum for discussion of the Authoring Kit has been created here. Please post any questions or comments about it in that forum.

Once again, PLEASE NOTE! The Authoring Kit, and the Savage Worlds data files, are NOT YET COMPLETE. More complete versions will be released in the upcoming weeks.

Happy gaming and Happy holidays!

15-Aug-2008   Hero Lab Wins ENnie!

At the ENnie Awards ceremony, held Friday night at Gen Con Indy 08, Hero Lab received an ENnie Award in the Best Aid or Accessory category!

We're thrilled with the award, which recognizes the effort we've put into making Hero Lab a powerful character creation and GM support tool.

We'd like to thank the ENnie award judges and all of our customers, whose support means a lot to us!

While at Gen Con, we had several people come to our booth to purchase, noting that friends had shown them the program, so thank you to all those friends!

We feel Hero Lab is the best tool of it's kind on the market, and many players apparently agree.

While at Gen Con, a gentleman come to the booth for a demo. Well, okay, hundreds of gentlemen came to the booth for a demo, but at the end of the demo this particular gentleman just stood staring at the monitor. We couldn't tell if he was in deep thought or angry about something. When asked if something was wrong, he told us that he had already pre-ordered another software tool which was to be released in the coming months. That tool had cost $40, while Hero Lab's cost is only $30, and his opinion was that Hero Lab was a far superior tool. After a few more moments of thought, he purchased Hero Lab. :)

Again, thank you all for your support!
The LWD team.  [More Info]
