Pathfinder Character Creation is Now Available on the iPad!

Build your character’s background – from race and alignment, to languages and more!

iPad users, your wait is over! You can now create new heroes, make changes to existing characters, and of course continue to use the app during play with the latest version of Hero Lab for iPad!

It’s never been easier to build a character for Pathfinder! This new update to Hero Lab’s iPad app leads you through the character creation process, flagging each step along the way. All the Pathfinder content associated with your Hero Lab license is at your disposal when building your characters! To activate this content and the app’s new character creation capabilities, you’ll need to link the app with one of your Hero Lab license numbers, just like you do on your desktop or laptop.

When activating your license on the iPad app, you must be using a new Hero Lab license number, or a license number not currently in use on another computer! Make sure you don’t use the same license number on two devices – if you use a license number that is currently active on another computer, Hero Lab will treat the license as having been transferred away from that computer to the iPad, and will stop working on that machine.

Want to make sure you’re setting everything up properly? We’ve put together some explanations of how to get the right license number to use for activation, so read on.

If you’re currently using Hero Lab on only one computer, you can use the free secondary license that comes with every Hero Lab purchase, and start creating characters on your iPad at no additional cost! To get your new license number, go to www.lonewolfdevel.com, login with your Hero Lab license, and select “Obtain Secondary License”. You’ll be assigned a new license number, which you can use on your iPad to activate the new character creation capabilities.

If you’re already using all of your license numbers, you can purchase an additional secondary license for $10 (up to a maximum of 5 total licenses), or transfer a license number from one of your existing computers to the iPad.

To purchase a new secondary license for $10, go to www.lonewolfdevel.com, login with your license, and purchase an additional secondary license from the site. Once purchased, select “Obtain Secondary License” on the same website, and you’ll be given a new license number to use on your iPad.

To transfer a license number from another computer, just find the license number currently in use on that machine by selecting “View License Info” within Hero Lab. Then, activate that license number on the iPad. To avoid future confusion, we recommend uninstalling Hero Lab from the old device.

Don’t want to use a Hero Lab license on your iPad? Don’t worry, you can still use the app as a digital character sheet without linking it with a Hero Lab license number, just like you could before!

Secondary License Limit Increased

As a reminder, with this update to Hero Lab for iPad, you can now have up to 5 total license numbers associated with your license, an increase from our previous limit of 4. That means you can use Hero Lab on four computers and an iPad, three computers and two iPads, or any other configuration with 5 supported devices!

The Future for Hero Lab on Mobile

Our focus for this update was to allow the creation of Pathfinder player characters and NPCs. We’re hoping to expand the iPad app later with additional support for custom monsters, plus advanced features like kingdoms, armies, and GM support, and we’ll keep everyone updated on our progress over the next few months.

We’ll also continue to assess support for other game systems and other platforms. We don’t have anything to announce on these subjects right now, but when we do, we’ll share our plans on our webpage, in our monthly newsletter, and on our various social media sites, like Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.
