18-APR-2008   Hero Lab update includes Pathfinder, Requiem for Rome, and Companions

We're excited to herald the availability of Hero Lab V2.0, delivering a wealth of new content for players of both the d20 and World of Darkness game systems. This content is in addition to the Campaign Workbench functionality introduced in V2.0.

Players of the d20 system, will enjoy extensive support for hirelings and companions, such as familiars, animal companions and Paladin mounts. If your character has access to a companion, simply click on the “Companion” button and Hero Lab creates it automatically. Switch to the companion with a second click and you can readily customize the minion as you see fit. Adding fully detailed hirelings and mounts is just as easy. Hero Lab includes many common animal and NPC races, allowing you to create a diverse variety of followers at the click of your mouse.

Pathfinder players can tap the wealth of material published to date. Hero Lab provides detailed content spanning Pathfinder 1 through 7, as well as the Curse of the Crimson Throne player’s guide, all with the full support of Paizo Publishing.

World of Darkness players can now take advantage of the complete character content featured in the recent Requiem for Rome supplement. Storytellers can quickly create NPCs of any power level with Hero Lab’s on-the-fly estimation logic, providing STs with a running estimate of the XP rating for any NPC.

For both d20 System and World of Darkness users, Hero Lab now includes more than 100 pre-configured "stock" heroes for your use. Instead of spending hours painstakingly preparing your NPCs, you can now simply start with the stock heroes and apply a few final touches to tailor them for your game.

Curious gamers can take Hero Lab for a free test drive! Just download and install Hero Lab from our site to see exactly how powerful it is.

26-MAR-2008   Hero Lab's v2.0 Release offers Major Enhancements!

We're pleased to announce the immediate release of Hero Lab v2.0, which includes the first of many Campaign Workbench tools for Players and GMs.

Included in this release are the following major enhancements:

Multiple Hero Support
Multiple characters can now be seamlessly managed at the same time. An entire party of player characters, allies, and even enemies, can all be accessed with the click of a button. Characters can create fully-linked animal companions, familiars, hirelings, etc., which Hero Lab can output either with the linked character or separately.

Campaign Workbench
Designed for use by Game Masters, this initial release of our Campaign Workbench content focuses on the Dashboard and Tactical Console components.

The Dashboard conveniently displays summary information for player characters, enemies encountered, important NPC allies, etc. In addition, the Dashboard provides expansive access to quick-reference data via mouse-over buttons, and allows the user to switch between characters with a click of the mouse. When reviewing a character, you may note the expenditure of spells and item charges, track damage, or update modifiers as a result of spell effects or abilities.

Hero Lab’s Tactical Console shows even more summary information regarding the characters on the Dashboard, including weapons, armor, health, combat modifiers, and a selection of useful skills and abilities (especially those the GM might want to roll in secret, such as “listen” and “spot”).

The Tactical Console is tailored for use both in and out of combat, highlighting the information most useful in each context - serving as the command center when running a game. During combat, the Tactical Console generates and tracks initiative status for all combatants, including delayed and readied actions. Player characters and their allies are visually distinguished from enemies on the Tactical Console, for maximum usability.

Original Art
Because images are an essential way to visually tailor Hero Lab, this release includes a diverse selection of 60+ pieces of high-quality, original art for your use.

Current Hero Lab users can download and install these core product enhancements for free, enjoying the expanded content and functionality at no additional cost.

Future updates will include additional content for Hero Lab’s Campaign Workbench, as well as new output options.

02-Jan-2008   Ushering in 2008

2007 was a busy year for Lone Wolf. While we actually released Hero Lab the very end of 2006, it was a huge focus for us throughout 2007, and we're very pleased with the results. We believe that Hero Lab is the best character creation software out there, right now.

In the next short while we'll be updating Hero Lab with the promised Campaign R&D content (game tools for game masters), issuing a great new update to Army Builder, and releasing the Hero Lab data package for Mutants & Masterminds, so it's going to be a busy couple of months.

Lone Wolf would like to issue a heartfelt thank you to all of our customers! Your support means everything to us. Your inspiration helps us to make better and better products!

Happy New Year, and we hope to see you at an event or visit with you on our forums very soon.

Lone Wolf Development staff

P.S. If you are a product reviewer for an RPG website, or looking to become one, we'd like to encourage you to play with Hero Lab and write an honest review. If that review is released on a mainstream RPG site (like RPG.net, GamingReport.com, DriveThruRPG, etc.), send us a link and we'll issue you a free license.

18-Aug-2007   Hero Lab to Support Margaret Weis Productions RPGs

Lone Wolf Development today announced an agreement-in-principle which will allow its revolutionary Hero Lab software to support the Cortex System Roleplaying Game rules from Margaret Weis Productions. Currently used as the engine for the Serenity and Battlestar Galactica RPGs, the Cortex System is also slated to be used for a variety of other projects by Margaret Weis Productions in the very near future.

Rob Bowes, President of Lone Wolf Development, said, "When we released Hero Lab last year, we already had our 'short list' of companies whose products we knew we had to support, and MWP was obviously on that list. We're very excited to show players of Cortex System games what Hero Lab has under the hood."

"Lone Wolf Development has an impressive history of delivering incredibly powerful software that really lets players explore the rules and play their style of game," said Jamie Chambers, Vice President of Margaret Weis Productions. "Since Cortex is an extremely versatile system, we've always known that any electronic support for the game would have to be equally versatile, and Hero Lab is able to handle anything that our designers can throw at it."

While specific dates have not yet been announced, the Cortex System data files have been tentatively scheduled for a Spring 2008 release.
