–  XP Updates Error  –

For your security, some pages on our servers can only be accessed using modern encryption protocols. Unfortunately, Windows XP (and certain versions of Windows Vista) are so old that they don't have these protocols enabled by default.

For users of those old operating systems, this means that certain parts of our web site, like the ones that power the Army Builder and Hero Lab updates mechanisms, can no longer be accessed.

If you're one of those users, here's how you can activate the option to use more modern protocols, allowing Hero Lab and Army Builder to access our servers properly. This is a bit technical, but please read the instructions carefully and follow along.

How to Fix This Problem

  1. Open Internet Explorer, and go to Internet Options. PLEASE NOTE: Even if you don't browse the web with Internet Explorer, its settings are still used for internet access. Make sure to open Internet Explorer, and NOT Firefox, Chrome, or any other web browser you use.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab, and scroll down to the bottom of the list of options. You should see some options like this:



    Find the option labelled "Use TLS 1.0", highlighted in the screenshot.
  3. The "Use TLS 1.0" option is probably not checked. Click on it to check it.
  4. Once the option is checked, click "OK".
  5. Quit Internet Explorer and restart your computer.

Once your computer restarts, Hero Lab or Army Builder should be able to access updates without a problem.
