August Newsletter 2013
Welcome back! The team has returned from Gen Con, and we just want to say “Thanks!” to everyone that stopped by our booth to chat and check out our products. It was fun meeting everyone! Some of us found ourselves victims of the dreaded “con crud”, but we’re hoping to be recovered by Labor Day. This month, we’re highlighting the following topics:
- Gen Con Recap
- Realm Works Wows at Gen Con
- This Month’s Pathfinder® Releases
- Third Party Pathfinder Supplements
- d20Pro Kickstarter
- Lone Wolf Is Hiring!
- Freelance Artists and Graphics/Icon Designers Needed!
Holy Gen Con Batman! This year’s convention was a whirlwind adventure. The best part of the convention was meeting so many of you, whether at the booth, a seminar or our forum meet and greet! We had so many great conversations and received incredibly helpful feedback, and appreciated all of wonderful things you had to say about our products. That kind of positive feedback has been invigorating for the team!
We held four seminars at the convention, two focusing on Hero Lab® and another two on Realm Works. Many of you requested that we record our Realm Works seminars, but unfortunately technical difficulties kept us from completing the recordings. We’re still hoping to make some Realm Works videos available as we approach release, so watch this space.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to check out our Realm Works demos. We continued to receive positive responses from everyone who saw the software in action. The same held true from those who demoed our currently available Hero Lab Character Sheet app for the iPad. Finally, huge thank yous to everyone who participated in the Lone Wolf Challenge. We hope you had as much fun participating as we had listening to your “meaningful howls”. Congratulations to William Hill, the Grand Prize winner, and our 10 other First Prize winners!
It was a great week, and we were thankful to spend it with some of you. Only 11 months to go until next year!
The reaction to Realm Works at Gen Con was overwhelmingly positive. We had attendees spilling out of the booth at times, all trying to get a peek at everything Realm Works can do. Hopefully, many of you were able to stop by and get a look for yourself!
For those of you who weren’t able to check out Realm Works at Gen Con, we’re creating a number of introductory videos to show off the product. We’re also setting up our own YouTube channel and overhauling the entire website. The videos should start coming online in the latter half of September, so stay tuned to Facebook, Twitter, and our forums for announcements.
The question on everyone’s mind is: “When will Realm Works release?” Based on where we’re at right now, we’re pretty sure we can get the product out by the end of October. We’re working our tails off to make that happen. We still have lots of polishing and refinement to do, as well as getting a few more features fully implemented. We also have to get more server functionality into place and ensure the server is bulletproof. Everything is progressing well at this point, and we’re targeting release in a mere two months!
A magical wardstone that has protected Kenabres for centuries from the Worldwound and its Abyssal armies has been destroyed. Without the magical barrier, the demons are threatening the world’s existence. Can you and your party keep the armies of evil from taking over, or will you lose the battle for good? This update for Pathfinder will have everything players need to battle the forces of evil in the newest Adventure Path, “The Worldwound Incursion”. We’ve added all the player content from this Adventure Path into Hero Lab as part of this month’s free update, available now!
Learn how to fight the forces of evil, or have your hero swear fealty to a new code of honor with new material in the Player Companion #12 package. “Demon Hunter’s Handbook” and “Faiths & Philosophies” will be joining “Pathfinder Society Primer”. All three books are now available for only $4.99.
Looking to introduce your players to a dangerous new demon? A new add-on for Pathfinder, our Campaign Setting #11 package, is now available for only $4.99. The first book available for this package will provide you with 10 of the most dangerous demons in the Pathfinder campaign setting. We expect to add at least one more book to this add-on, which will be included as a free update when it’s released, if you purchase the add-on before the last book has been included.
For more information about what released in this month’s update, please visit our forums. Also available this month are add-on packages from some of our Third Party Publishers, such as the new 1001 Spells from Rite Publishing. Check out more below.
Go forth and defend the realm!
Lone Wolf Development works with some awesome companies that work hard to put out new supplemental packages for the Pathfinder world. We’re excited to share that August has been a busy month for releasing new material for Hero Lab in collaboration with some of these companies.
The Midgard Campaign Setting, by Kobold Press, has received overwhelming positive reviews, praising the depth and richness of its world to its quirky twists. Explore the world of Midgard, full of dark secrets and strong magic, with the Midgard Bestiary package ($6.99) and the Midgard Campaign Setting ($9.99).
Frog God Games, our third party publisher highlight for July, continues to work closely with Lone Wolf to provide content for Hero Lab users. Tome of Horrors IV was released for Hero Lab around Gen Con and is currently available for $14.99. As a GM, you can never have enough monsters! Of course, don’t forget one of our most popular add-on packages by Frog God Games, Tome of Horrors Complete ($29.99).
Finally, in collaboration with Rite Publishing, 1001 Spells ($9.99) has now been released as an add-on for Pathfinder. 1001 Spells is exactly what it sounds like – add 1001 spells to your Pathfinder world. A wide variety of spells can help you flesh out your magic user. And who can say no to a spell that allows you to eat your opponents whole?
d20Pro, the flagship product of one of Lone Wolf’s long-time partner companies, is Kickstarting the programming of quality adventures from Frog God Games into the d20Pro Marketplace, 100% ready to play. Built for gamers and by gamers, d20Pro is a trendsetting virtual tabletop app that both enables rapid combat and encourages role-playing, all while allowing your gaming group to gather around the dinner table or online around the world. Any campaign you can imagine can be built into d20Pro, though as GMs everywhere know, this is a lot of work. In addition to their own creations, many GMs want access to high quality art, fully populated maps, compendiums of monsters, and all the way up to entire adventure arcs.
Also, d20Pro imports your 3.5, Pathfinder and 4e Hero Lab Portfolios. And there are great deals on the software in addition to awesome content on the Kickstarter, Pledge Now!
