Realm Works: Player Edition and Beyond

Realm Works-logo_tnRealm Works has been on sale for only two months now, and we’ve been thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive response from the tabletop community. Thousands of users have jumped on board with Realm Works! As we outlined in our update last week, by purchasing or considering purchasing Realm Works, you’ve become a partner with us in the evolution and ultimate success of the product, and our goal is to keep all of our partners (and potential partners) apprised of our progress. As we shared in the update, we have a solid plan in place for the next few months. In fact, we’ve already made some progress, with a new product release going out yesterday. This new release includes a number of enhancements and refinements of the desktop version, as well as a variety of bug fixes. A handful of new, built-in categories have also been introduced to enhance world building. You can find the full list of changes in the Release Notes within Realm Works.

In addition to the new release, we’ve officially posted the position details  for the vacancy on the Realm Works team. Please take a look at the skillset we’re looking for and, if you know anyone that meets the requirements, send them our way!

Finally, for those of you that took the time to read our news post last week and respond: Thank You. We greatly appreciated the show of support!

The “Realm Works Intro” seminar focuses on how our revolutionary RPG campaign management tool offers unique features for developing and organizing game content. Beyond just text, it encompasses pictures and maps, statblocks, Hero Lab portfolios, audio and video files, relationship trees, and much more!

Our second Realm Works seminar, “Realm Works – Tips & Tricks”, is a detailed look at some of the powerful tips and tricks available for experienced users of Realm Works. These valuable insights will help you save even more time while building your world or preparing for a game. Both are hosted by the lead developer of Realm Works, so you’ll be learning from the best!

The other two seminars will focus on Hero Lab, our character creation software, and how to add your own content. Led by one of our Data File Authors, this seminar is intended for beginners and intermediate level users, but advanced users are welcome too. Hero Lab for iPad – Latest News

Paladin class tab

As we announced last month, we’ve been working on a major update for Hero Lab for iPad. Besides its current character sheet capabilities, the app will allow users with a Hero Lab license for Pathfinder to create and advance characters just like they do on the desktop! You’ll be able to create new heroes, make changes to existing characters, and still use the app during play just like you can now!

We don’t yet have a release date for this new update, but we dragged Colen, Lead Developer for Hero Lab, away from his computer long enough to get the latest news:

Greetings, fellow iPad users! We’ve spent the last month making good headway on this project, most of it porting features from Hero Lab on the desktop that hadn’t been added to the iPad yet. Until now you’ve been unable to change hero settings (choosing sourcebooks, toggling optional rules, etc) on the iPad – obviously that’s required for people who’re creating characters! We’ve also added support for creating, duplicating, and deleting heroes within a portfolio, something you might want to do if you’re experimenting with different “builds” of a character.

The portfolios list screen in “Manage Portfolios” mode

The iPad doesn’t provide standard behaviors for renaming and duplicating files (like Windows and OS X do), so we’ve been busy implementing those ourselves. We’re adding a “Manage Portfolios” button on the portfolio list screen to let you make those changes by tapping on a portfolio, as you can see here:

We still have a long list of tasks to do before Hero Lab for iPad is ready to create Pathfinder characters, but we’re making progress and hoping to have more news for everyone soon!

Mutants & Masterminds: Power Profiles

MnM3_logo_smallMutants & Masterminds is the go-to RPG to create and play your own superheroes and villains, and soon M&M fans will have even more tools at their disposal. We’re excited to share that the “Power Profiles” supplement is planned to release next month for Mutants & Masterminds within Hero Lab!

Power Profiles will include over 800 pre-built, customizable powers, with concepts ranging from Air and Armor to Water and Weather, along with new power options, extras, flaws and variants, allowing you to modify the basic effects from the Hero’s Handbook in new and exciting ways.

Only one more month until these options are available in Hero Lab for your game. Look for “Power Profiles” later in June for only $9.99!

This Month’s Pathfinder Updates & Final “Secrets of Adventuring”

Who is Pharaoh Hakotep, and why does the cult want to revive him? These are the questions you and your party must answer. Unfortunately, you must travel to Tephu to find the answers, and many don’t want you to succeed. Even if you find them, dangers lurk in the desert beyond your wildest dreams!

This update for Pathfinder will prepare your players for the trip to Tephu and beyond in the latest Adventure Path, “Shifting Sands”. We’ll be adding all the player content from this Adventure Path into Hero Lab as a part of this month’s free update, available soon!

The Harrow Deck has a long history, shrouded in mystery and ancient symbolism. It’s been said that that Harrow Deck can perform magic, divine the future, and even change destinies. Soon you can unlock the secrets of the Harrow Deck in the “Harrow Handbook”, with new archetypes, feats, spells and more! This new book will join “Undead Slayer’s Handbook” and “Alchemy Manual” in Player Companion #15, available soon for only $4.99!

We’re excited to share that part of “Inner Sea Combat” will be available in Campaign Setting #11. Take advantage of over a dozen new archetypes, like the Gun Scavenger or Shoanti Burn Rider when battling ruffians along the Inner Sea region! Please note that this package will only include the archetypes from Inner Sea Combat – we wanted to let you get your hands on them as soon as possible, and the rest of the book will be added as a free update to the package within the next month. Grab “Inner Sea Combat” in Campaign Setting #11 soon for only $4.99!  As always, you can add new packages to your Hero Lab license by going to the License menu within the product and choosing “Purchase Data Package”.

Looking for “Occult Mysteries”, the new Pathfinder Campaign Setting book? This book will release as a part of the June Pathfinder release next month. The Hero Lab team had a lot on their plates with the huge amount of content in last month’s “Inner Sea Combat” book, so we’ve had to delay the release of Occult Mysteries until June. Sorry for the delay, and we should be back on track next month!

You’ll find several enhancements and bug fixes in this month’s update as usual. You will be able to find a full list of the changes on our forums after the update is released.

Finally, we announced in February that Rite Publishing had partnered with Hero Lab to release Chapters 1-6 of “The Secrets of Adventuring”. During March we added Chapter 7 and 8, and we’re excited to announce that Chapter 9 will soon be available! “The Secrets of Adventuring” provides you with new choices for your characters, from character options, to classes, and archetypes. This new chapter will join the rest of “The Secrets of Adventuring”, available soon for only $14.99!
